Meisner Level I
Meisner Level I incorporates the step-by-step foundation for truthful acting that Sanford Meisner created over 75 years ago, a technique that is credited for training literally dozens of Academy-Award winning actors, most recently Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side. Don personally trained under Mr. Meisner at Meisner’s Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, and sticks religiously to the detail of the technique as Mr. Meisner taught it to him.
The Meisner technique teaches the new actor how to connect the cables of “real life” — truthful listening and answering, the "reality of doing” everything, and the truthful emotion that lives inside all of us — to the imaginary world of film and theater. Meisner Level I classes meet once a week, with every student working at least once per class as they apply their skills first to Meisner-specific exercise work, and then to several rounds of scenes that increase in difficulty as the actor, and their technique, deepens.
